It's not that I don't think it may have value - Study mode could be a game changer. But my experience with students and AI is they may not want to use it that way and certainly not that way exclusively. I'm just concerned this will make it harder for teachers to keep it out of the classroom. My gut tells me, even though the testimonials seem to suggest it's geared towards college students and independent work, that part of their reason for rolling this out was so teachers could feel more comfortable using it directly in class. Notice they don't mention the writing process once in their announcement. Honestly, I see the potential for the worst of both possible worlds (I really hope i'm wrong) - students bypassing teachers in content driven classes (either with Study mode or simply AI in general) and still using the more accommodating models to generate papers. I'm eager to hear actual experiences of students using it. Be careful what you wish for ...
These are great tips! I love the out of the seat tip too! I feel like this is something a lot of teachers worry about! Structuring out of seat time is great. We all need to stretch our legs!
Hey Marcus, I'm going through your posts as a new teacher and learning so much. I do have some clarifying questions: for the "Sticky Thoughts" exercise, can you give some examples of how you incorporate the numbers, 1-7, into a lesson?
I love the idea of getting students moving around, but didn't understand how the numbers integrate into the larger activity. Thanks

I loved this post. Thanks for sharing these strategies. (And thanks for the kind shoutout.)
I LOVE the one-word strategy, especially for the first days of school. Even when everyone is nervous, they can usually give a single word.
